In the aftermath of the dissolution of the Tributionary Body in the Rhyern Region, two competing governments arose, with the puritan committee called the Monoclast Party forming government in 2201 2G.c.

While they stemmed the tide of unrest within Rhyne's holdings, the Monoclasts were little more than echoes of the Tributionaries before them, focusing on zealous and easily implemented policies that fumbled to contain the spread of inequality and growing disease in the Rhynern Region.

Rich independent entrepreneurs and polymaths, who had gained influence in the aftermath of theTributionary Body, began acting outside the purview of the Monoclasts, funding disease prevention, agricultural advancements and increasing the passion for the arts to rebuilt Rhyern identity.

After the accelerated advancements in the Central Planae from the discovery of the No-Box, these individual's influence gained enough popular momentum to overthrow the incompetent government and form the first council of Craftlords; a meritocractic ruling body focused solely on the enhancement of the lives within the Rhynern Region.

This Council has continued unabated since their establishment, electing new members as they retire or are 'challenged' for their position by a member of the public. These challengers come from all walks of life, and are welcomed even from other city-states to introduce new ideas and practices unfamiliar to the Rhyern Region.

Each of the seven Craftlords has a distinct domain they must be a master of and regularly contribute to, as to avoid challenge or being 'forcibly' retired.

Bartolo Dion, former Craftlord of Chemistry and Science, has maintained an honorary seat in the council due to his status as a Herald and a Provarchor for TAERA.

While some Craftlords have had to be forcibly removed from the Council due to corruption, in the 177 year the Council has run, only one member has died under mysterious circumstances; Nolahn Letu, Craftlord of Discovery and History, was found dead in his room in 2369, a heretical document later determined to be a handwritten suicide note in what was later identified as Astelleian.
