Modular Association

The Modular Association is the collective of 'Additive Manufacturers', who are able to manipulate advanced materials such as White Filament into consumer goods, buildings, religious tokens, and units of TAERA'n currency.

History

The Modular Association is the oldest existing institute active in Enaeth, having existed in some form as a guild or collective since the First Cycle. At their simplest, Modulars are Augur engineers, architects and manufacturers who have learnt to shape materials into a desired form.

Modulars work with a range of materials, usually metals and minerals suspended in a liquid or powdered form, sometimes referred to as 'slag'. The Modular then 'prints' from the material, sometimes taking minutes or hours depending on the complexity of the manufacture.

They are most typically renowned for their work with White Filament, a stone like alloy of minerals and metals that is lightweight and incredibly strong. As a mineral, it does not rust, and it is particularly resistant to erosion. It has applications in industries, agriculture and weapons development, while also being bio-compatible in use of prosthesis and surgical equipment.

The recipe for White Filament slag is a closely kept secret by leadership of the Modulars; its suspected only a handful of people know the exact percents to create the alloy, gifted to the Association by Emissaries of Heas in 2203 3G.c.

The responsibilities of the Association extend from the maintenance of Torren's Flood Channels, the creation and validation of the new TAERA'n currency, and printing slabs of road from locally harvested materials for the Surveyor's Guild Road Projects.

Due to the secretive and important nature of their work, members of the Association undergo rigorous testing, and must meet a mandatory minimum in manufacture ability. Their final exam is to print their own permit; a complex pattern etched in a square button too complex for human eyes to see, denoting the name of the Modular, registry date, material code, and specialty.

These permits are made from an alloy specifically designed to erode and weaken after five years, requiring their renewal, and safeguarding trust for all major Enaethern powers, in the sanctity and reliability of the Association.

The headquarters of the Association resides in the Pink District of Rhyne, led by Associate President Craftlord Eshelohn Anasil.
