Vaxis was born and raised a member of the Arath Diaspora in the wilderness around the Circean Forests. His childhood and youth were spent training to become a ‘shaper’ for the Diaspora under the careful guidance of his father. He had demonstrated strong ability to melt down the hated artefacts of old, and reform them into prized jewellery and weapons.

Quietly he marvelled at these wonderous devices, and secretly stashed what he figured was a ‘harmless’ trinket to study further. This curiosity and inquisitiveness was to be his downfall; Vaxis was caught red-handed with the device hidden in his travel bags, and his life forfeit. He was marked with the tattoos of the Pathless, and chained in his tent as the Pathsetter and his Forerunners decided his fate. Before a decision could be made on Vaxis' future, his father snuck into his tent, undid his bindings, and with grief and bitterness told Vaxis to leave the Disapora and never come back.

Vaxis travelled aimlessly south towards the Central Planae, mind still reeling from his exile. He ended up in Torrens, where he was quickly able to prove his worth as a shaper, and joined the Modular Association. Vaxis moved between a number of projects before applying to join a team of Theovocate sanctioned Antiquitists, cataloguing artefacts from previous eras. Vaxis spent his middle years well below the city, studying all manner of devices and equipment, secretly tinkering for fun where he could.

When the Violate War began and TAERA was enacted, his team was recruited and permitted to use these artefacts in the war effort. Vaxis became a sapper, utilizing a 'weaponized' drone in combat to great effect. When TAERA sought recruits for a number of initiatives, Vaxis was one of the first to join the newly formed Surveyors Guild. There he assisted in the Tor'yne Road Project, using his explosive drone to clear paths in the ruinous wake of the Violate War.

Highly competent, he is unusually one of the few surveyors that works alone. Thanks to his military experience and knowledge of the arcane, he is more capable of defending himself from any beasts or bandits he encounters in the wilds. Vaxis’ current contract has ended, and he is currently enjoying some much-needed R&R in the Surveyors Public House at Torrens. Little does he know that his rest is soon to be interrupted by yet another calling…
