HERALDS CAMPAIGN
Bartolo Dion
Herald Bartolo Dion is a former Craftlord of Rhyne and current Rhyern political advisor for Regina Garaseehn.
Bartolo is an older dwarven gentleman, with a long grey beard and greying black hair, and now walks with the assistance of a cane, containing an arrange of custom tools. Despite his role as a political advisor in semi-retirement, he is still never seen without his toolbelt, leather smock and a spare vial of white filament 'just in case'.
He presents as a calming and kindly figure, but is known to be occasionally long-winded and unintentionally aloof.
Growing up the son a notable statesman, Bartolo was a curious young dwarf, fascinated by the actions and reactions of the world around him to the smallest of elements. He dedicated his youth and adulthood to the study of chemistry, primarily attempting to solve the problem of lighting the darkened and abandoned ancillary city of Rhyne.
He spent decades studying light producing elements, in flora, fauna and compounds. He even traveled to Torrens and studied the mysterious Rayura fixtures of the Inner Manifold. Despite his achievements, the positive declarations of his works and eventual promotion to Craftlord, he was unable to create his dream of a mass-produced portable light source.
This all changed during the Violate War. Forced to pivot to wartime applications, the pressure of needing a weapon to counter the King's armies led to a ferocious study into the chemistry of propellants. Bartolo struggled to find a solution to his problem of a cannon that could handle projectile mass strong enough to punch through any armor or wall. He struggled for weeks with this problem, and late one night on a walk, he experienced a moment of true clarity and lost his grip on reality. He slipped into the Rubicon, where he saw the confusing jumble of every inventor before him, encountering and conquering the same unsolvable problem. In his moment of apotheosis, Bartolo awoke in his chair, the calculations written in charcoal on his desk.
One week later, Bartolo finished the prototype; the Long Range Chemical Cannon, a weapon that could fire an enormous projectile faster than the speed of sound.
This weapon was swiftly installed in the recently erected Palisades, and pivotal in the final defeat of the Violate King. After the war, Bartolo was successful in his creation of the 'Glow Orb' and now works in semi-retirement as a Rhyne Provarchor for TAERA at the request of his close friend Regina, an honorary Craftlord, and as a mentor to his ward, genius Anthrobiologist Enihiliah Dion.

Bartolo was present at the debate between TAERA and the Amansir on what to do with null child Orin Somnihlus. Bartolo was unsuccessful in
convincing Orin to make him his ward, but wished him the best, letting him know the offer to join him would always be there.
